Moray memorial to military pipers

SOLDIERS based in Moray are to build a monument in memory of military pipers and drummers who have died in battle.

Recruits from the 39 Engineer Regiment based at Kinloss barracks will build a cairn in the grounds of the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming at Inchdrewer House in Edinburgh.

The work, to be done by members of 3 Troop 48 Field Squadron Air Support, is due to finish by the end of the month and should be open to the public by September or October.

The school is raising money to erect life-size bronze statues of a piper and drummer there.
