MoonWalkers are ready to paint the town pink

EDINBURGH will be lit up in pink later this month to inspire the thousands of walkers taking part in the annual MoonWalk for charity.

Among the iconic buildings taking part on 19 June will be Edinburgh Castle, St Andrews House, Lloyds on The Mound, the National Galleries, the National Monument, the Balmoral hotel, Camera Obscura, the Nelson Monument and the Melville Monument. Jenners, Barbour and John Lewis will all mount pink window displays along the route.

A MoonWalk Edinburgh spokeswoman said: "The MoonWalk is such a unique event with its own identity, but each year we are overwhelmed by the welcome we receive. The buildings in the capital are in such close proximity that it is almost as if they are uniting to give our amazing walkers a great big hug. It is very special."

The MoonWalk Edinburgh is now full for walkers but a small army of volunteers are needed to help on the night to register visit www.walkthewalk.org or call 01483 741430
