Tayside Police yesterday confirmed that Daniel Somers, 49, had been caught by officers. He had been missing after failing to return to Castle Huntley prison, near Dundee, on 7 March, after being given home leave to Glasgow.
During the police hunt for Somers, police reported there had been “possible sightings” of Somers in Lancashire and Leicestershire
A spokesman for Tayside Police said last night: “We can confirm that Daniel Somers, who had absconded from HMP Castle Huntly, has been traced and arrested.”
He added that Somers was due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today.
