Missing Laura turns up safe in London

A WOMAN with learning difficulties who has been missing from the Capital for more than a month has been found safe and well in London – thanks to an Edinburgh shop owner.

Laura Gorrie was seen boarding a bus from Edinburgh to Glasgow on May 22, and was last seen getting on a train to Blackpool later the same day.

There had been recent sightings of the 30-year-old in Blackpool but it was at Euston train station in London that Saky Afzal, who co-owns and manages Baguette Express on the Royal Mile, spotted Laura on Friday.

The 19-year-old was enjoying a short break in London and was on his way to a Jay-Z and Kanye West concert at LG Arena in Birmingham with his cousin when he noticed Laura inside the station and looking upset. He recognised her from walking past Baguette Express several times before and informed a member of the Transport Police at the station.

It is thought that Laura was then checked over at hospital and is now recovering at home in Edinburgh.

Lothian and Borders Police confirmed Ms Gorrie had been traced safe and well.
