Missing James Cairney’s body found near Inverness

THE body of a man who went missing in the Highlands last week has been found in woods near Inverness.

Extensive searches were carried out for 57-year-old James Cairney, who was reported missing from the Dalcross area east of Inverness last Wednesday. His body was found in woods near the Highland capital.

Police Scotland issued an appeal for information following his disappearance, including details of a Volvo car.

The body of a man was discovered in the Tomfar Woods area, close to Farr, south of Inverness, on Friday evening.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The family of the missing man have been informed and he has been positively identified.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
