Missing chef's father says he will never give up the search

THE father of missing chef Claudia Lawrence said he hoped a forthcoming documentary would trigger "somebody's memory or somebody's heart".

Speaking at Glasgow's Central Station at the unveiling of a new appeal for information yesterday, Peter Lawrence pledged not to abandon his search until he either found his daughter or discovered what happened to her.

Claudia, 35, failed to return from work at York University 15 months ago.

Large screens next to the departure board at the train station in Glasgow showed a picture of the chef with the words: Where Are You? And a bright yellow sign included a photo of Ms Lawrence with the message "Have you seen her?" and the phone number for Crimestoppers.

Mr Lawrence said that despite her continued absence and the fact police are treating the case as a murder inquiry, he was convinced his daughter was still out there somewhere and he would not abandon his campaign until he found her.

He said: "I never imagined that we would be here 15 months on. Sometimes it feels like an eternity, sometimes the day she disappeared feels like it was yesterday.

"We've come to Glasgow not because there's any specific link but because we are going everywhere we can. I'll never give up hope and I'll never give up this campaign."

A 30-minute documentary by production company Glasshead will be screened on Channel 4 this summer.

Mr Lawrence said: "It's very moving. There are interviews with Claudia's sister Ali and close friends and there are scenes of the area where Claudia worked. Hopefully with its very wide audience it will trigger somebody's memory or somebody's heart."

Mr Lawrence says his daughter's disappearance had left the family devastated.

He added: "All we can do is keep on hoping and praying that someone will come forward with some information that will give us the answers we have been praying for."

Mr Lawrence, from Slingsby, North Yorkshire, has made similar appeals in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.
