Mini Castle is off to Europe

A MINI Edinburgh Castle is to be built at a tourist attraction in Brussels.

The castle was the clear winner in a poll launched by Nationalist MEP Alyn Smith to introduce a Scottish landmark in the Mini-Europe park, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year.

Mini-Europe already features Big Ben and Buckingham Palace alongside France's Eiffel Tower, Germany's Brandenburg Gate, Italy's Leaning Tower of Pisa and famous sites from across the continent, but up until now there has been nothing from Scotland.

Mr Smith said: "It was disappointing to see a lonely area where Scotland and Wales should feature."
