Military flag soldiers on up the Mile

THE Armed Forces Day flag hit Edinburgh in fine style yesterday, to mark the start of Armed Forces Week. It was parachuted into Holyrood Park by the Royal Regiment of Scotland's parachute display team the Golden Lions, then driven up the Royal Mile in a 1953 Austin Champ army truck by military vehicle fans Garry and Fiona Morton.

Lord Provost George Grubb was presented with the flag by members of 3 Rifles at the City Chambers. He said: "Raising this flag will serve as a poignant reminder of all those who have fought on our behalf."
