Migrants limit to be reinstated

A TEMPORARY cap on the number of migrant workers coming to the UK will be reinstated after a previous limit was ruled illegal by the courts, immigration minister Damian Green told MPs.

A High Court ruling last week found the cap was unlawful on a "technical and procedural point", but Mr Green said changes to the immigration rules would be laid before Parliament today to reinstate the limit on migrants.

The minister was forced to come to the Commons to answer an urgent question by shadow home secretary Ed Balls, who said the government had given the impression of acting in a "reckless and chaotic manner".
