Michael toes the party line

THE Lothians were going to the polls this morning to elect a new city council, but for one teenager it has been a doubly momentous day.

Michael Brown, who lives on Leith Walk, turned 18 today and was voting for the first time.

He said: “It’s a bit of a double celebration.

“I’d already made my mind up who to vote for before I went out to the polling station.

“I’ve got rugby training afterwards and then, with it being my 18th, I’m sure I’ll manage to squeeze in a couple of drinks as well.”

Polls opened at 7am and will close at 10pm.
