Message from the Editor

READERS will notice that the cost of your Evening News has risen to 55p from today. This is due to a combination of increasing production and distribution costs. It is the first cover price rise in more than a year.

Edinburgh’s favourite newspaper still represents fantastic value for money, and is the only title you need to find out what is going on across the Lothians, in news, sport and entertainment.

This year we have continued to break the best exclusives, including agenda-setting stories on the city’s tram project, on the legionnaires’ outbreak, on bus lane cameras, and Hibs and Hearts.

We will continue to offer top value in other areas too, such as today’s free cupcake for every reader.

As a thank you to our loyal readers we are also offering a subscription service that allows you to buy your News for just 37p – a 33 per cent discount. Take up the offer before Friday and we will throw in a free £10 M&S voucher.

Subscribing will also make it easier to get your paper each day, either from your local newsagent or other outlet, or by having it delivered to your door.

You can find details today on Page 12.

In the meantime, thank you for your continued support.
