Memories boost for
ex-soldiers

A PROJECT to improve the lives of ex-service personnel with dementia in the Capital by using sporting memories has been launched.

Veterans’ charity Erskine, which has 22 beds at its Gilmerton home dedicated to ex-servicemen with dementia, has teamed up with the Sporting Memories Network, which says studies have shown that the use of sporting memories allows people to build on and develop personalised memories.

The project has been particularly useful for men who are often more reluctant to join in with group work.

Erskine’s director of Care, Sue Robinson, said: “We
are delighted to be working with Sporting Memories Network to further enhance the care we offer veterans with dementia.”
