Memorial service for young mum who died in childbirth

A SERVICE to celebrate the life of a young mum who died just hours after giving birth to her baby boy is to be held in the Capital in January.

Nicole Taylor died from a suspected brain infection on December 19 after her son Harris had to be delivered 13 weeks premature at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Friends said the 20-year-old former Craigmount High School pupil had been “so looking forward to being a mum”.

Her family have now announced that a celebration of Nicole’s life, for all friends and family, will be held at Mortonhall Crematorium on January 6.

There will be a retiral collection for the Neonatal Unit.

Health chiefs have pledged to investigate the circumstances leading up to her death, after reports that worried relatives twice phoned NHS 24 and were twice referred to NHS Lothian’s out-of-hours service.
