Memorial for Railway Man

THE makers of a film about Edinburgh-born prisoner of war Eric Lomax, known as The Railway Man, joined family and friends at a memorial service for the 93-year-old who died last week.

Screen writer Frank Cottrell Boyce and producer Andy Paterson gave a joint eulogy.

Mr Cottrell Boyce said: “Eric had all these qualities that are gone from the earth – that combination of reserve and warmth, that curiosity, that grace.”

The film, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, is due out next year.
