Meeting to urge statutory repairs reform

A PUBLIC meeting has been arranged to discuss the case for reform of the council’s statutory notice service, following the dismissal of four members of staff last week.

The employees were dismissed due to the part they played in the city’s unique statutory notice repairs system, which is currently under investigation by Deloitte and Lothian and Borders Police.

The group Edinburgh Residents for Statutory Reform have organised the meeting for St Peter’s Church Hall, Lutton Place, which will include a presentation and a question-and-answer session. Organisers said a senior representative from the council’s property conservation department had been invited to appear on the panel.

The open meeting is being held tomorrow and starts at 6.30pm.
