Masked men brandish knife and 'firearm' in Glasgow bookies robbery

MASKED men carrying what appeared to be a firearm robbed a city bookmaker's, police said today.

Two female staff members were threatened with a knife and the suspected gun before making off with a three-figure sum of cash.

Strathclyde Police said two men carried out the raid at William Hill in Rhindmuir Road, Ballieston, Glasgow, at about 9.25pm yesterday.

The two staff, aged 26 and 44, were alone in the shop. Both were uninjured but "extremely shaken".

The first suspect is described as white, about 35 years old, around 5ft 8in and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top, scarf and gloves.

The second man is thought to be of similar build. He was wearing a red bomber jacket, blue jeans, black scarf and gloves.
