Market delight for villagers

A NEW market has opened in a West Lothian village, creating more than 20 jobs.

The Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Market is the brainchild of local businessman Gerry Gallagher.

He began his venture after buying the former health
centre in Fauldhouse, before transforming it into a 12-unit market. Now it contains everything from a pet shop to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Gerry, 46, said: “For long enough there has been nothing in Fauldhouse for people and you couldn’t buy a lightbulb without paying over the odds for it.

“I wanted to do something that would provide every necessity for people under the one roof.

“As a result, when the health centre came up for sale it was too good an opportunity to miss.”
