Margo pleads for World Cup horn ban in all SPL grounds

FOOTBALL bosses have been urged to ban vuvuzelas, the horns causing controversy at the World Cup, from their grounds.

Independent Lothians MSP Margo MacDonald wants the Scottish Premier League to show the plastic horns the red card.

Some fans have complained the horns drown out singing and chants.

Ms MacDonald, the convener of Holyrood's cross-party group on sport, claimed the vuvuzelas were "ruining" the World Cup and that she feared supporters may bring them to games in Scotland next season.

She has written to SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster calling on him to act and ban them. An SPL spokeswoman said clubs will make their own decisions.
