Marathon on its marks for anniversary

ORGANISERS of the Meadows Marathon will prepare to mark its fifth anniversary with a launch on November 25.

The half marathon, which takes place each March, is organised by students and last year raised almost 50,000. The event includes a 5km race for all abilities.

The anniversary launch event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Loft Bar of Teviot Row House, Bristo Square, at 7.30pm. It will also mark the beginning of a one-week, 20 per cent discount on the 15 registration fee.

Charity partners are Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Mindroom, Foursquare, Cash for Kids, Scottish Love in Action and AgeScotland.

Organisers say they hope to beat records for fundraising and entrants. This year, for the first time, teams will be able to race against each other.
