Man’s body found in St John Vianney Primary School playground

PUPILS at St John Vianney Primary in Liberton were sent home this morning after a man’s body was found on school grounds.

Police were called out to the school on Ivanhoe Crescent about 9am.

A spokesman said police were still carrying out the necessary checks on the man’s body to determine his age and identity.

“Lothian and Borders Police responded to a primary school in the Inch area of Edinburgh after a man’s body was found within the grounds,” the spokesman said.

“At this stage the circumstances leading to the death of the male are being investigated and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The death is believed to be non suspicious.

Pupils, who were sent home about 9.30am, are expected to return to classes at St John Vianney Primary as normal tomorrow.
