Man's body found in river

POLICE officers searching for an offshore worker who went missing two weeks ago have recovered a man's body from the River Spey.

Keith Johnston, 36, was reported missing after he left his home in Birnie Crescent, Elgin, on Saturday, 15 May.

His Audi A4 car was found on the banks of the Spey several days later, parked near the Boat o' Brig bridge on the B9103 Altonside to Mulben road.

Detective Inspector Paul McCruden, of Grampian Police's Moray Division, said: "We can confirm that we recovered a body of a man thought to be in his 30s from the River Spey on Monday.

"Inquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances surrounding the death."
