Police said it would be inappropriate to comment on the identity of the body during the investigation.

A spokeswoman said: “Further forensic tests are being carried out to determine the identity of the deceased.”

Mr Walker, 52, is 6ft 1in, stocky with short grey hair. When last seen he was wearing a blue zipped top.

Police divers have searched a pond in nearby Rouken Glen Park in an attempt to find him.

Mr Walker was last seen in Main Street, Thornliebank near its junction with Kennishead Road on Monday October 24.

Two days later his neighbour Lynne Small was found murdered in her flat in Addison Grove, Thornliebank.

Police are treating the death of Ms Small as murder following the results of a post-mortem examination.

Strathclyde Police said they are not linking Mr Walker’s disappearance with the murder inquiry.
