Man with weapon sought after ‘terrifying robbery’ for Paisley shop worker

A SHOP worker was subjected to a “terrifying robbery” by a man carrying a weapon.

The incident took place at the Parkash Newsagents on Clarence Street in Paisley at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

A man entered the shop carrying a weapon and started shouting at a 34-year-old female worker.

He jumped on to the counter area and when the woman ran outside to get help he grabbed cash and cigarettes before making off on foot down Clarence Street towards Ladyburn Street.

He is described as white, between 25 to 50 years of age, around 5ft 7in, wearing a green jacket with a white zip, with the hood up and his face covered.

He was also wearing blue jogging bottoms, industrial type gloves and black trainers with a thick white sole.

Detective Sergeant Nicola Postans said: “This was a terrifying robbery which has left a women badly shaken. It is vital that we find the person responsible.

“Thankfully no person was injured during this frightening incident but the area was busy with pedestrians and I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.”
