'Man of violence' jailed for unprovoked attack in street

A THUG was branded "a man of violence" by a sheriff as he was jailed for a year.

Cocky Greg Campbell, 24, grinned as he was led from the dock in handcuffs to start his prison sentence yesterday and signalled to relatives that he could be out in four months.

Campbell pleaded guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to an unprovoked attack on William Miller in Blackridge, West Lothian, on August 30.

He repeatedly punched his victim on the face and threw him to the ground to his injury.

He also admitted breaching probation and a home curfew order and failing to turn up for court.

Paul Beaton, prosecuting, said Campbell, of Salsburgh, North Lanarkshire, had walked up behind Mr Miller and punched him on the side of the face.

He added: "The accused punched him a further time on the face then grabbed Mr Miller by the body and threw him to the ground."
