Man on trial over car park rape claim

A MAN has gone on trial accused of grabbing a woman on a busy street in the Capital before raping her in a car park.

Jules Paterson, 22, is accused of targeting the woman on Leith Walk in October 2009.

It is alleged he grabbed the woman before making her walk along Leith Walk and Pilrig Street and pulling her first into a lane then a car park there.

Paterson is then said to have pushed her to the ground, pushed up her clothes and ordered her to kiss him.

He is also alleged to have repeatedly bit the woman to her injury.

Paterson, of Murraysgate Crescent, Whitburn, denies a single charge of rape.

The trial, before temporary judge Edward Bowen, continues at the High Court in Dundee.
