Man taken critically ill at Perth police offices

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after becoming critically ill in the custody area of the Police Scotland offices in Perth.

The 54 year-old man was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary on Tuesday night after being arrested following an incident in the Perthshire area earlier in the day.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 54 year-old man was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary shortly after 7pm on Tuesday, 7 May, after taking ill while in custody at Perth Police Station. He is currently described as being in a critical condition.”

He added: “The man had been arrested, along with another man, aged 44, following a disturbance in the Perthshire area earlier that day. Enquiries into the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.”
