Man struck on head with cone

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 42-year-old man was assaulted on King Stable's Road in Edinburgh on Saturday, 19 December.

The man was apparently struck on the head with a traffic cone and then assaulted by a group of men.

The victim was discovered by a man passing by, and a woman called an ambulance, but he had left before police arrived.

Officers are now hoping to trace the victim, who was described as 5ft 7ins tall, of stocky build, with a shaven head and black beard.

He was wearing a black jacket, grey shirt, blue jeans, and tan leather boots.

A police spokesperson said: "We are very keen to trace the woman who came to the man's aid as she may have witnessed the attack."
