Stephen Cloake groped the boy the morning after having sex with his mum.

A jury at the High Court in Livingston heard that the 36-year old mother of three had taken the accused home after meeting him for the first time in an Edinburgh pub.

She introduced him to her three boys, including the four-year-old. After she put her children to bed she had sex with 50-year-old Cloake and fell asleep.

When she woke the next morning she found her youngest son in a distressed state.

When she asked him what was wrong he told her Cloake was “a bad man”.

The youngster then revealed that Cloake had sexually abused him.

The jury heard the boy gave clear evidence of the assault via a closed circuit television link.

Cloake, originally from Manchester but described as a prisoner at Edinburgh had denied carrying out the sex attack on February 23.

The jury returned a majority verdict finding him guilty as charged.

After the verdict was announced, advocate depute Shirley McKenna revealed that Cloake had previous convictions for similar offences.

Judge Lord Burns told Cloake he would be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on October 29 and remanded him in custody.
