Man needed surgery after bottle attack

a MAN who was assaulted when someone threw a bottle at him only learned he would need surgery three weeks later.

The 43-year-old victim was walking past a group of four men when the incident happened in Churchill Avenue, East Kilbride, on 11 August.

Three weeks later he was still in pain so went to hospital where he was told he had suffered serious facial injuries.

Police are appealing for information about the four, who were all Scottish and aged 20 to 24.

Detective Constable Iain McCulloch said: “This man was unaware of the extent of his injuries until he sought medical treatment three weeks later.

“Once it became apparent that he was seriously injured, he contacted police.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area on Friday, 
11 August, and who saw a group of men, to contact officers.”
