Man knifed after helping neighbour

A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed when he tried to help a neighbour whose home was being attacked by an armed gang.

The 22-year-old found his 54-year-old neighbour arguing with a group of four armed men who had apparently smashed the windows of his home in Oaktree Gardens in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow around 1.50am yesterday.

Two men from the group then chased the younger man who had intervened and attacked him with a bladed weapon. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Glasgow’s Victoria Infirmary where he is in a stable condition. The older man was treated for minor injuries.

Strathclyde Police appealed for information about the incident. Detective constable Marc Kelly, from Cathcart CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty attack on a young man who was simply enjoying an evening in his home when it appears a group of men turned up and smashed his neighbour’s windows in the early hours of the morning. When he intervened in the disturbance he received very serious injuries.”
