Man jailed for city flat blaze

A MAN who set fire to a flat in Edinburgh has been jailed for ten months, after saying he would prefer prison to his home in Gorebridge.

James Kerr, 63, was found guilty by a jury in December of last year of wilful fireraising, and at the time expressed the wish that he be sent to prison.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterdday, Sheriff Neil Mackinnon jailed Kerr for ten months. Kerr set fire to a flat in Pilrig Heights on December 13, causing extensive damage.
