Man injured after facing up to yobs

TEENAGE yobs have left a man with a broken hip after attacking him outside a Chinese takeaway.

The 64-year-old was in Craigentinny Road between 11pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday when he was verbally abused by the youths.

The man then confronted the group and was hurt after being pushed to the ground.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he is still being treated.

The youths are only described as being in their early to mid-teens.

A police spokesman said: “The victim has suffered a painful injury to his hip after confronting the suspects who were being abusive to him as he began making his way home.

“We are keen to speak to any passing motorists, pedestrians or patrons from the takeaway who remember seeing the youths in the area and can help us identify them.”
