A MAN was stabbed as he walked through a residential area in broad daylight, police said yesterday.

Officers have yet to establish a motive for the attack, which they are treating as attempted murder.

The 41-year-old victim was assaulted at around 3.40pm on Friday in Cathcart, in the Southside of Glasgow. He was making his way along Stravanan Terrace when he was set upon by another man.

The victim was taken to Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary, where staff have described his condition as serious but stable.

Elsewhere, police said two teenage boys were assaulted in a "completely unprovoked" attack in Aberdeen.

Grampian Police said the pair were assaulted by a male teenager who was part of a group of four.

The incident happened between 1am and 1.30am yesterday on Great Western Road.
