Man hunt launched as prisoner escapes from Aberdeen hospital

A prisoner has gone on the run after escaping from security at a hospital in Aberdeen.

The public are warned not to approach Lee Hipson, 24, who was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment but then managed to escape.

He was reported missing to police at around 12.20am on Friday and the force said “extensive searches” are being carried out to trace him.

Hipson is around 6ft 1in and slim with dark blond, shaved hair. He has blue eyes and is unshaven.

He is believed to be wearing a black jumper and jogging bottoms, a black, grey and white T-shirt, and black and grey trainers. All the clothing is Nike.

Chief Inspector Kevin Wallace said: “I can reassure the public that absolutely everything has been done through the night to establish Hipson’s whereabouts, and our inquiries continue this morning with extensive searches in the city.

“If anyone knows where he is, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Police said members of the public should not approach Hipson if they spot him but should instead call the force on 101, or to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
