Man in hospital after falling into Water of Leith

A MAN has been taken to hospital after falling into the Water of Leith at Stockbridge.

Police, the fire service and paramedics rushed to the scene beside the Falshaw Bridge, Stockbridge, after the man fell in the water at around 5pm.

One witness said she could see the victim being given CPR at the scene, before he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by fast escort.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance following reports of a 55-year-old man in the Water of Leith.

“The incident occurred at Arboretum Avenue. Police and emergency services are currently in attendance.”
