Man held over cocaine haul

A MAN has been arrested and charged after £100,000 worth of cocaine was found in a car pulled over by road policing officers.

The 46-year-old man appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with drugs offences.

Two kilogrammes of cocaine were found after a search of the vehicle stopped on the eastbound carriageway of the city bypass on Tuesday.

Cocaine seizures in the force area dropped by 29 per cent between last April and March against the previous year. The popularity of the former "legal high" mephedrone and action taken against city drug gangs have been cited as factors behind the decline in cocaine recoveries.
