Man held over alleged sex attack in Edinburgh

A MAN has been arrested after a 37-year-old woman was allegedly seriously sexually assaulted in a city street.

The alleged incident happened in Spring Gardens in Edinburgh during the evening of Boxing Day.

Police said that a 22-year-old man has been arrested.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Detectives are still keen to trace a couple who are believed to have seen the man and woman in the area between 10.30pm and 11pm that day and asked them to contact police.
