Man held after armed robbery at Laing jeweller

Police investigating the armed robbery of a city-centre jewellery store on Monday have detained a man in Chesser while searching a property.

£100,000 worth of merchandise, including Rolex watches worth £50,000, were stolen from Frederick Street jeweller Laing.

Eyewitnesses earlier reported a significant police presence at Chesser Grove, with several police vehicles in attendance.

Detective Inspector Grant Johnston said: “As part of an ongoing investigation into the armed robbery at a city centre jewellery store officers from Police Scotland carried out a search of a property in Chesser Grove on Thursday 5th March.

“A male has currently been detained and enquiries are continuing.”
