Man found in flat blaze was murdered

A MAN found dead in a burning flat was the victim of a “violent attack” in his home.

The body of James Kerr, 34, was found in a flat in Lincoln Avenue, Knightswood, Glasgow, at just before midnight on Wednesday.

Police said he was murdered and that a post-mortem examination will take place later today to try to establish how Mr Kerr died.

Detective Chief Inspector Stevie Grant, from Strathclyde Police, said: “We are currently carrying out extensive inquiries in the local area, including door-to-door enquiries and gathering and reviewing CCTV images.

“James suffered a violent attack within his home and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.”

Additional police patrols are taking place in the area following the death.
