Man faces cannabis charge

A VIETNAMESE man has appeared in court after police found two huge cannabis farms.

Ngo Van Do, 32, was arrested following raids on houses in Livingston. Lothian and Borders Police said 800 plants with a street value of 200,000 had been seized.

Do, of no fixed abode, appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court on Thursday. He was charged with producing a controlled drug and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.

Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody.

A police spokesman urged members of the public to remain vigilant for potential cannabis cultivations. He said such properties produce large amounts of heat, use strong lighting and are likely to have curtains continually closed.
