Man to face drug charges after van find

A MAN has been arrested and charged with drug offences after police recovered cannabis from a vehicle and a property.

Officers working under Operation Erase – an ongoing campaign to target drug dealers in East Lothian – carried out a search of a van in Lochbridge Road, North Berwick, at around 12:40pm on Thursday and seized cannabis resin.

A search at an address in Clermiston area of Edinburgh was then carried out and more cannabis was recovered.

The 39-year-old man was scheduled to appear at court at a later date after being charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Operation Erase has already seen 37 alleged drug dealers arrested and drugs valued at more than 330,000 seized in a targeted swoop on serious and organised crime in East Lothian.

A police spokesman said: "We will continue to target all links of the chain in the drug industry and this further arrest should be a warning to all involved in the supply of drugs that their actions won't be tolerated."
