Man on eight armed robbery charges

A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been charged over eight armed robberies at bookmakers and banks over the past six months.

Gary McMeekin, of Strood, Kent, is alleged to have committed the offences between 29 November last year and Friday.

He was held hours after a man went into Lloyds TSB in Northfleet, on Friday and demanded cash.
