Man dies in hospital after tree collision

A YOUNG driver has died after his car crashed into a tree near a village in West Lothian.

The incident happened around 9pm on Saturday on the B8046 between Ecclesmachan, and Threemiletown near to Linlithgow.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was driving a red Peugeot 206 northwards when his vehicle collided with the kerb, left the road and crashed into a tree.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he later died.

Police have not yet established the full details surrounding the incident and have appealed for anyone who saw the crash or the immediate aftermath to contact them.
