Man dies after 'falling overboard' into Scottish loch

A man has died after he was recovered from a Highland sea loch.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at Loch Alsh, near Kyle of Lochalsh, at around 3.50pm on Tuesday.

The casualty was recovered from the water and taken to Broadford Hospital on the Isle of Skye, where he later died.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

'Falling from a vessel'

A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokeswoman said: "HM Coastguard received a report of a person in the water, possibly after falling from a vessel, in Kylerhea narrows, Isle of Skye.

"Kyle coastguard rescue team, an RNLI lifeboat from Kyle and a coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Stornoway were sent.

"The person was taken on to the lifeboat before being passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service."
