Man dies after car crashes into wall

A 20-year-old man has died after his car collided with a wall on a city street.

The driver of the Mercedes was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the incident at on Colinton Road at 12.45am on Tuesday morning, but he died yesterday.

Officers are investigating the full circumstances of the incident, but the death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Sergeant Keith Denholm said: “This is a tragic incident, which has resulted in the death of a young man. Our condolences go out the family at this time.

“We are still appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
