Man denies baby’s murder

A MAN has gone on trial charged with the murder of his four-month-old daughter.

Craig Jamieson is alleged to have killed Abbie at the flat where he then resided, in Dumbarton Road, Scotstoun, Glasgow, on 8 February, 2008.

The 32-year-old, from the city’s Knightswood district, also faces two charges of assaulting Abbie, in December 2007 and February 2008.

He is standing trial at the High Court in Glasgow after denying the charges.

Jamieson has lodged a special defence of incrimination.

It is alleged that, “by means to the prosecutor unknown”, Jamieson inflicted blunt force trauma to Abbie’s head and body, leaving her so severely injured that she died at the city’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill.

The trial, before Lord Matthews, continues.

The case is expected to last for up to four weeks.
