Man denies attempting to murder Law Society official

A MAN has denied attempting to murder a senior Law Society official outside his home in Edinburgh.

Robert Graham, 45, is accused of attempting to murder 66-year-old Leslie Cumming on 23 January, 2006 in a lane adjoining Ormidale Terrace by repeatedly striking him on the head and body with a knife or similar instrument to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement, impairment, and to the danger of his life.

At the High Court in Glasgow yesterday, Graham's defence, QC Mhairi Richards, said: "He pleads not guilty to the charge." Judge Lord Turnbull continued the case to a further hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh on July 21.
