A 70-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Inverness.

Elizabeth MacKay, 60, was found dead in her home in the Hilton area of the city last Thursday.

She was described by police as a quiet woman who kept herself to herself, adding she would not harm a fly.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a man has now been arrested and charged with murder.

He is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court later today.
