A MAN has been arrested on drug charges in connection with a seizure of pills believed to contain a potentially fatal substance.
The 21-year-old was charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in East Lothian recovered dealer quantities of cocaine along with the pills. He is set to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Monday.
More than 1700 pink tablets with a distinctive cherry symbol on one side were seized during the search of a property in Gardiner Road, Prestonpans yesterday.
The pills are believed to be linked to a death in the Strathclyde area earlier this month, as well as a number of other deaths in Europe.
Officers are awaiting analysis of the pills, but it is believed they contain dangerous substances known as AMT or 5-IT.
