Man charged over conduct in taxi queue

A MAN has been arrested and charged with a breach of the peace after being accused of making indecent comments to women as they queued for taxis outside the Omni Centre.

The 35-year-old was detained after police were alerted by taxi marshals who reported seeing a man approaching lone women at around 3:50am on Saturday.

Officers traced the man nearby, where he was taken into custody.

Police are now appealing for any woman who may have been approached by the man and found his behaviour to be inappropriate to contact them.

A police spokesman said: "Thanks to the vigilance of the taxi marshals, police were able to identify and locate the man quickly.

"We are now eager to speak to any of the women this man is believed to have approached and would urge them to come forward.

"Similarly, anyone with information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to get in touch."

Anyone with any information can contact police on 0131-311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800-555 111.
